Fashion Myth Debunked

When it comes to fashion advice, there is plenty out there… From Marie Claire to Vogue to In Style– fashion magazines suggest what to wear and how to rock it!

Lately, however, it has become increasingly clear to me that style is a means of self expression where your personal creativity of spirit is meant to shine!

Although I still find some useful tidbits here & there, I prefer to dress for m y s e l f.

That is why this post is all about debunking fashion myths… Particularly, the most common of them all: that black & navy OR black & brown DON’T mix. Fashion Blasphemy!

Now don’t get me wrong. Trend tracking by the experts is fabulous… It helps guide us through all the style choices to be made as seasons fly by and new looks emerge… Yet after all is said and done, no one but YOU can chose what to wear, how to wear it, why and when!

Tired of being confined by fashion experts, I’m choosing to expand the possibilities… StonerChíc Rebellion, Done Right!!!!

I’ve included a killer gallery of further proof that Navy & Black or Brown & Black actually do work well together by creating richness in color & texture, while adding an element of drama and sophistication. It doesn’t matter how you chose to rock this look!  A simple accessory such as a smashing belt, a luscious handbag or a stellar pair of shoes can add just the right amount of depth to an all black look; otherwise, color-blocking is a fantastic option, taking the style further by creating a dynamic look where various patterns and textures can be used to spruce up an everyday black ensemble…

Behold the possibilities to be worn! xoxo SC

Sporty Spice

For Fall I am loving the continuing Sporty Chíc trend.

Being feminine and flirty doesn’t have to be limited to sequins, pearls, glitter, feathers or ruffles… In fact, think outside the box! With this trend you can take a very simple, sporty item, such as a jersey inspired tee or a letterman influenced jacket, and spruce it up with fun accessories or sexy heels! Mixing and matching looks, styles and patterns can expand your outfit potential while additionally creating a spunky look. Be bold, embrace your inner grit!!

I’ve created a gallery of looks that embody the in vogue sensation: sporty chíc …

Think of jersey influenced “touchdown tees” embossed with graphic numbers reminiscent of your high school days… And who could forget the letterman jacket? An Americana staple taking us all the way back to the 1950’s when all the babes wore their beau’s team proudly on their sleeve! Not to mention, baseball tees & caps with panache, making them versatile enough to accommodate any styling you chose… Additionally, I am loving the sporty spin on fashionable, signature items; sweaters, sneakers, clutches and backpacks, all designed with the sporting edge in mind, using clean lines & sophisticated materials.

This trend is casual and lighthearted leaving it up to you to decide on how much sporty spice you want to factor in.

Dare to turn up the heat, flirting with trouble while looking effortlessly chíc… That’s the SC way!!!

Enjoy the pics, xoxo StonerChíc

Fashion Inspiration of The Day

Free People Fall Shoes

I found this FAB photo of some scrumptious shoes while peeping the Free People website. Instantly I began to ponder the various outfit opportunities!

Cute everyday boots made of distressed suede in the most perfect and versatile color: Slate. Accentuated by the very best caramel toned leather straps… Pair these Paperback Ankle Boots with some dark denim skinnies, a cozy oversized sweater in a luscious winter cream & add some fabulous, punchy accessories to personalize, as well as brighten up, the look– picture a colorful arm of bracelets, a few gemstone pendants dangling around your neck and small or medium hoop earrings…

Next up: the Desoto Cut Out Oxford. If you feel like keeping it posh while still rocking just the littlest bit of edge, this is the shoe for you! These high-shine flats are sophisticated and polished; an updated nod to the ever classic brogue design. When I saw these beauties my mind immediately thought they would be the perfect pair of Oxfords to wear with a crisp, classic, white button-down blouse & a sleek, sexy black pencil skirt; keeping the accessories simple and refined, with pearl or diamond studs and a few dainty necklaces…

The Lonesome Fringe Ankle Boot & the Perspective Heel are two adventurous style choices! If you are down to wear these fancy feet around town, by all means: GOD SPEED Personally, I find these two pairs to be striking. It’s hard to go unnoticed when your shoes have personality & charm that stands all on their own! With the alluring peep-toe, lace-up sandal I am compelled to throw on a textured mini dress (fab pattern or embellishments, please!) while wearing the bare minimum in accessories; brazen without going overboard… As far as the fringed bootie is concerned, this is a spunky & sassy style choice that is much easier to weave into everyday fashion planning. Wear these boots with leggings, a flowy tunic and make sure to incorporate some Native American inspired accessories: feathers, gems, animal talismans, you get the idea…

No matter what shoe best describes your fashion esthetic & identity, wear them with confidence and pride! You look fabulous, sassy, classy, sexy, spunky, funky & fresh in everything you do, BELIEVE IT!!!!

lots o’ love, StonerChíc

I LOVE Hats!

Fun, stylish, sexy, mysterious, hipster, chic, and the list goes on…

Wear them with dresses, skirts, jeans or trousers, this bold fashion accessory adds glamour to any outfit…

No better companion for textured, cozy sweaters or layered jewels, hats also look effortless with simple looks: dark denim & a white tee or your favorite sexy black dress…

Step out of your comfort zone and try a hat on with your next outfit! Once you find the one that fits your style and feels good on you, there is no holding back… Have fun, get creative and dare to be confident & sassy!!

I have chosen a series of pictures that combines various fashion stylings, all paired with the simple and refined HAT.

Booties! And Summer/Fall Outfits to Match!

Fall is fast approaching! And with the end of long, warm Summer days come the beginning of crisp, cool transitional eves… Now for those of us familiar with Bay Area weather conditions we are keeping our fingers crossed that amidst all the changes in foliage, we are still blessed with a delicious, basking Indian Summer

Even so, these times can be hard to dress for. Starting the day with a cool morning, followed by a toasty afternoon and into a chilly, breezy (hell, windy!) evening/night-time, it’s no wonder why the bootie is becoming a popular and trending style choice. It is versatile and chic; sophisticated yet edgy. I love pairing my various bootie cuties with tucked-in or ankle length skinny jeans and a tank OR with a hi-low skirt and tee! I’m including some cute snap-shots of a few bootie options that would suit any girl on the go! They are fun shoes that can be dressed up or down… So get creative! Additionally I will include some outfit ideas for further motivation!

Cheers, xxoo, Stoner Chíc

FUN OUTFIT ENSAMBLES!

Here I paired those cute LF lace-up booties with an Alternative Apparel hi-low skirt in a creamy, heathered oatmeal. For some funk  I added a red and off white striped cut-out shirt with a lightweight Madewell denim vest. Easy, breezy, beautiful BOOTIE girl!

I thought it would be fun to keep adding flair to these gorgeous SUTRO booties by wearing them with Mother Denim zip-up ankle skinnies! The rich burgundy/wine color adds to the bold brown of these yummy, heeled and tassled booties. Why stop there!? Keep rocking the cutting edge by wearing a muscle graphic tank like this one by Remain, as well as a sexy cut-out sweater. (Both tank and jeans were bought at Hawthron Boutique in Oakland)

This last outfit consists of Joe’s Jeans in a flattering ankle cut; perfect to wear with any bootie because it’s the right amount of jean to really help show off those cute booties you are parading in! Since these Dolce Vita shoes have a fun embellishment, I went with a simple floral tank with a surprise back by Free People and for when the weather tapers down, a cozy John Galt sweater.
