Bon Voyager

I stumbled upon a wonderfully crafted store yesterday while walking the streets of San Francisco. After a delicious early afternoon in Hayes Valley, my bf and I made our way back to the Mission District– we were both headed for Dolores Park to bask in the warmth and glory of the sun! Before, however, we perused Valencia… the stores there are divine! Each shop has a one-of-a-kind flair that is too stylish for words… Hipster Funk, Stoner Chic, Boho Sophistication that is just the right combination of rebel, edgy and classic. Voyager Shop really stood out. A retail collaboration among SF based Revolver, Spartan and Needles/Pens, this space is carefully curated featuring clothes, accessories, books, art and more! An exceptional variety is offered at Voyager Shop and aside from spectacular fashion and culture finds, the space is a designers dream. I’ve included some pictures of the store so you can get a taste… If you ever find yourself in SF or the Mission, I highly recommend you stop by Voyager Shop, I can only imagine you will LOVE it! xxoo, SC

Jewels

These are the Jewels I am wearing these days… Eclectic and fun, all the while maintaining a general theme. This applies to clothing as well. When I style myself, or anyone else, I like to create a thread, or story, to illustrate what is being worn. I also like to feel held by the power of the images I wear, and so I choose clothes and adornments  that are like a mantra, or daily reminder of what I envision for myself and the world! To surround yourself with positive images, words, and energies is to create a better space for yourself to feel more happy & free.

In this picture a few pieces from my all time favorite designer, Voce Keen, are on display. The Labradorite Pendant is worn for its harmonizing and healing powers while also having properties that help stimulate the imagination and improve memory. Being that I am an Aquarius, I also like that this stone is linked to the Water Bearing Star Sign. Voce Keen Eagle Talon earrings and Crystal FingerWand are also pieces on display that hold meaning and a special symbolism. With Eagle possessing a regal quality and power, I admire this beautiful bird of prey which symbolizes creation, healing, and the illumination of spirit. The Crystal FW is worn for clarity in thought and action.

Additionally, few new jewels by Chibi. I recently discovered this brand at a local boutique and fell in love. The Gold Crescent Moon Pendant and Gold Starburst Midi Ring are beautiful images that remind me daily to appreciate the yin (female) energies of the moon and to never forget that I too was once a bright, sparkling starburst in this expansive universe in which we are all blessed to live!

Fiat Lux SF is a darling little jewelry store on Church Street. They have some in-house specialties, of which I am a proud owner of two delicately made rings! One is their Lover’s Knot in a textured, hammered silver; a midi ring meant to be worn on the upper portion of the finger. My second beautiful bauble is the Hematite Pyramid with a lovely sterling silver setting. The triangle/pyramid shape is reflective of stability and a strong foundation with equanimity in support, while the hematite stone promotes regenerative powers.

Lastly, my Gold Triangle Bead Bracelets are by Free People. I love the chevron shaped beads and find the colorful wristlets add an edgy glamour. The Lapis Lazuli bracelet is adorned with a gorgeous amulet in Coral and Lapis stones that unites the seed bead strands together. This piece was a gift from my Mother and it is a handmade piece of art. Lapis increases our intuition and facilitates a clear understanding of reality. It is also associated with the throat chakra, thus strengthening the neck and vocal chords, elements essential in the practice of lucid communication.

Hope you have fun hunting new accessories for your up and coming stellar outfits! And maybe add a piece or two to the ensamble that has significance to YOU. Let it reflect you and the world you want to inhabit!

Lots of love, Stoner Chíc  x

Christmas Came Early

I want to extend a warm and loving THANK YOU to the Owner of Shoe Biz San Francisco, Mehran Esmaili!! And a hearty Cheers to all his incredible staff!

Mehran recently peeped the blog and loved StonerChíc, especially the posts featuring SUTRO shoes. In 1979 as Engineering students at SFSU, and with $1000 in savings from washing dishes at night, Mehran and his wife Nooshin opened their first Shoe Biz in the legendary Haight District (1420 Haight Street). Since then it has evolved, adding two more locations– 877 Valencia and 3810 24th Street– and each store has its own flair while being uniquely fun, creative, trendy, and 100% personal! Additionally, they have an incredibly remarkable array of k.i.l.l.e.r. shoes that are, as aforementioned trendy, but exquisitely exclusive. I love when I can shop knowing that I’ll have a distinct piece that not many others (if at all) will have… Shoe Biz’ tastes run the gamut from sneakers to pumps, boots to sandals and all things in between… Always with a marvelous selection, you are bound to leave the store with your tootsies happily and beautifully adorned!

Anywhooooo, where I was going with the thank you, it’s juicy… As a by product of seeing the blog, Mehran has sent me some beautiful booties that will be a perfect and welcome addition to my ever expanding shoe collection! Let me tell you, I am eager with the anticipation of wearing these beauties. They are so gorgeous. Both boots are Shoe Biz’ signature private label, SUTRO. Inspired by our stunning city by the bay, San Francisco is the backdrop to where the dashing young Man or Woman can be seen wearing these fine, handcrafted, artisan style leather shoes. Each pair is hand cut and hand stitched to perfection and the shoes are elegant with some styles having a refined and rustic flair. I highly recomment peeping the website: ShoeBizSF.com or visiting any of their 3 San Francisco, CA locations.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my fab new SUTRO’s, xxoo StonerChíc

Outfit In Action

Not long ago I posted on some Summer/Fall Bootie Cuties… I featured a few outfits that were fun and effortless during this transitional time of the year. Looks that could go easily from day to night by just tossing a sweater and jacket on… Here is a look that I recently wore. By day, I was comfortable, casual and chic in a gorgeous Free People tank top with delicate floral print and a beautiful cut-out back; Joe’s Jeans in a flattering cut that were ankle length, perfect for pairing with Dolce Vita booties in a grey/green suede. Once the temp dropped, I threw on a John Galt by Brandy Melville sweater and a scarf! SummerFall time perfection! xxxooo, SC

Here it is… Accessorized and ready for play! This outfit was cute and chic… I got creative with the jewelry accents and had fun wearing this ensamble, I felt flirty and fun! I also got many compliments on various elements from head to toe!! xx

Without A Doubt

No Doubt released their new album today, Push & Shove. It is hellllla good! Pop, reggae, rock, dancehall, electro mish-mash deliciousness that’s danceable, fun, witty and rings of a new, evolved, yet timeless No Doubt!!!! I love love love how OC/LA they are from their amazing eclectic stylings to their funky and polished sound. Some of my favorite tracks on the CD include: Settle Down, One More Summer, Push & Shove, Gravity and Undone. Gwen Stefani’s  vocals are great, she has so many rad inflections and tones that make her an entertaining and dynamic singer, and she sounds absolutely beautiful on Undone. The rest of the bandmates, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young sound tight as ever with some funky basss playing going on accompanied by rad guitar rifts and rhythmic groovy drum beats ….

Always reflecting a radical personal style No Doubt is one of the more unique, tasty rock/pop/ska (and everything in between) bands in our contemporary scope of musical acts. With a prominent female lead and a steady rockin’ band, they always remain sharp. As well as musically talented, they all posses mad flair! I’ve posted some pics of the band together and individually… Now get out there and listen to Push & Shove while peeping Stoner Chíc !!!

Tunage

It’s been almost 12 years since D’angelo released his successful cd Voodoo. And what a fantastic album it was (baby. making. music.)! Now, after a long hiatus, the singer is back and a much-anticipated cd is said to be released in late 2012/early 2013… I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it is as ah-mazing as his past work.

With the growing hype and suspense, D’angelo has released a creative, unique, funky, neo-soul rendition of the 1994 hit by Soundgarden, Black Hole Sun. Although it is far from the original, it is definitely worth a spin! Remixed and with new, original lyrics the D’angelo version of the track adds a stellar edge to this heavy rock song! I love that he has taken his creative energy and channeled it into re-crafting an already great song by making it entirely unique and artistic. I appreciate the use of his talent in making music that is accessible to many while also giving a rock track a crossover capacity in this neo-soul, even electronic , interpretation.

Below is the video. The track may sound a bit scratchy and thus it may be a demo version. I hope you enjoy! I recommend giving it a listen or two… Sometimes new things take a while to absorb, but sit back and open your mind and heart and allow the sweet music to fill the space! Enjoy the link below ;)

Photo Shoot with Voce Keen Jewels

Not too long ago I had a dear friend and photographer, Cynthia Harris of  Sol y Luna Foundation, take some fashion shots of me in a few outfits featuring gorgeous jewels by Voce Keen. It was a fun and challenging experience! Who knew having your picture taken could be such hard work… Since I am surely my own worst judge, I have only selected my 5 favorite shots from our daylong endeavor.

I wanted to do a shoot to highlight the beautiful work of Amanda Bassolino as metalsmith, designer and owner of Voce Keen. Voce Keen is a rare gem of a jewelry line… It is unique, creative, healing, magical, beautiful and bold! Meaning clear voice in Italian, Voce Keen strives to do just that, create empowering adornments that say to the world I AM HERE AND I AM CONFIDENT, STRONG, MAGICAL & BEAUTIFUL. When I wear Amanda’s gorgeous designs I feel assertive and ready to face whatever the day brings my way. As each item is custom made with love and care, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that her work is healing. Each gem is curated from a pure source so that it bestows the wearer with its medicinal properties. MYSTICAL. Obsessed with VK is an understatement… If I could own every handcrafted piece of hers, I would… Hopefully some of these images will conjure up a need to feel the love and healing benefits of the earth, thus possessing you to enter her website… and shop!!

In the gallery you will find that we have three looks going on: the first is a party look put together simply with a sexy sequined mini dress; then you will find a dramatic, bold look consisting of velvet leggings tucked into rich black riding boots worn with a bolero style blouse and a wide brimmed hat; finally, the last look is easy and striking as I am wrapped in a cocoon of luscious maroons with a fantastic tribal print. In all images I am wearing one or more pieces by Voce Keen. The fingerwand is featured in all shots and in various colors: crystal, aqua quartz, tiger quartz and tourmaline. Additionally, in a few of the images you will see long strands of feathers that were delicately made by VK as well.

Amanda’s creativity and stunning work never fall short so I encourage you to visit her website for more  fabulous finds at VOCEKEEN.COM.

Much Love, Stoner Chíc

The Jam

Stay With Me by the Faces is a bad ass track! Blues, Funk, & Rock ‘N’ Roll allllll in one! With Rod Stewart’s raspy and soulful voice, this song will knock your socks off! I’ve included the video of a live performance. The lyrics may be a bit different than what you are used to, either way, they shred!!!!!!!

Recent Acquisition…

I’ve been a bad, bad girl. I mean naughty!! Walking around the Marin Country Mart the other day, after a yoga class, I stumbled upon Benjamin Eyewear. This is an LA based sunglass designer who creates custom frames emulated and inspired by various fashion icons. Additionally, he cherry picks a few current and vintage frames. In a small store front with kind service, it was a treat to be able to try on any pair I desired… Heaven! Finally, after going back and forth between a few different pairs of shades, I settled for a classic, cat-eyed frame by Chloe.  I’m obsessed with the mauve tinted lenses and the wine colored frames, great for these final Summer days and perfect for accompanying any look well into the Fall. Take a peek by clicking on the image to open up the gallery! Hopefully you’ll love them as much as I do!

Booties! And Summer/Fall Outfits to Match!

Fall is fast approaching! And with the end of long, warm Summer days come the beginning of crisp, cool transitional eves… Now for those of us familiar with Bay Area weather conditions we are keeping our fingers crossed that amidst all the changes in foliage, we are still blessed with a delicious, basking Indian Summer

Even so, these times can be hard to dress for. Starting the day with a cool morning, followed by a toasty afternoon and into a chilly, breezy (hell, windy!) evening/night-time, it’s no wonder why the bootie is becoming a popular and trending style choice. It is versatile and chic; sophisticated yet edgy. I love pairing my various bootie cuties with tucked-in or ankle length skinny jeans and a tank OR with a hi-low skirt and tee! I’m including some cute snap-shots of a few bootie options that would suit any girl on the go! They are fun shoes that can be dressed up or down… So get creative! Additionally I will include some outfit ideas for further motivation!

Cheers, xxoo, Stoner Chíc

FUN OUTFIT ENSAMBLES!

Here I paired those cute LF lace-up booties with an Alternative Apparel hi-low skirt in a creamy, heathered oatmeal. For some funk  I added a red and off white striped cut-out shirt with a lightweight Madewell denim vest. Easy, breezy, beautiful BOOTIE girl!

I thought it would be fun to keep adding flair to these gorgeous SUTRO booties by wearing them with Mother Denim zip-up ankle skinnies! The rich burgundy/wine color adds to the bold brown of these yummy, heeled and tassled booties. Why stop there!? Keep rocking the cutting edge by wearing a muscle graphic tank like this one by Remain, as well as a sexy cut-out sweater. (Both tank and jeans were bought at Hawthron Boutique in Oakland)

This last outfit consists of Joe’s Jeans in a flattering ankle cut; perfect to wear with any bootie because it’s the right amount of jean to really help show off those cute booties you are parading in! Since these Dolce Vita shoes have a fun embellishment, I went with a simple floral tank with a surprise back by Free People and for when the weather tapers down, a cozy John Galt sweater.
