EL-AY

The City of Angels is urban sprawl at its finest. Edgy and full of glam & glitz, Los Angeles is foodie and fashion heaven; not to mention a celebrity oasis! Everything about LA has style, even the unintended… You walk into a coffee shop, and it is a scene. A boutique? Polished. A local dive bar? Sure! But with that special hipster je ne sais quois! Truly, LA is made of design, decor and flair that is good to the last drop… It’s oozing off the streets and even the attitude and personality of the city exudes this exuberant and vivacious way of life. Maybe it’s the warm and sunny weather that contributes to the high energy and vibrancy– no matter what it is, LA is always on point!

On a recent trip down I spent most of my time in Venice Beach, Abbot Kinney; as well as a few cameo appearances in Santa Monica, Downtown & Silverlake . I took a few pictures of some cool looking spots, images that epitomize the LA esthetic… Here is a gallery of these snapshots, enjoy, xoxo SC

Craftsman & Wolves

You can never have too many coffee shops. Especially when the treats inside are as yummy as ever! Craftsman & Wolves on Valencia in the Mission District is an elegant nod to baked goods with the most unique and sophisticated flair. Flavorful breakfast pastries, cakes, confections, confitures, desserts, lunch and other sweet or savory delights can be had at this cool, chic location. I enjoy a mug of their Formosa Oolong Tea with either their Hazelnut Cake or Cocoa Carrot Muffin (and for savory goodies, The Rebel Within is truly all the hype…) In hindsight, nothing you eat here would ever do you or your taste buds wrong… Everything is decadent and perfectly luscious!

Cheers! SC

Food Truck Heaven

Off The Grid is an innovative Food Truck phenomenon! An organization that hosts various Food Trucks and Food Carts at various venues across the Bay Area, Off The Grid  is unstoppable! My first experience with OTG was 2 years ago when it was just getting started… It began as a weekly trend, meeting at Fort Mason every Friday from 5pm to 10pm. A fun, festive, community oriented gathering, Off The Grid was the perfect first date, girls night out or relaxed family dinner! With so many delicious, delectable treats to choose from it could only grow… Fast forward, and now it is no surprise that the movement has flourished and is becoming a booming entity. Off The Grid has Food Truck frenzy all over the Bay Area, including markets at Fort Mason Center, UN Plaza, North Berkeley, South Berkeley, Hayward, Alameda, Presidio and Larkspur.

I recently met up with my foodie girlfriend Isabel for a yummy lunch at the OTG Larkspur at the Marin Country Mart. A fun, inexpensive dining experience, Food Trucks offer quality food for street food prices. Most trucks are organic and natural, made with fresh, local ingredients. Both Isabel and I went with a tasty pulled pork belly sandwich piled high with coleslaw and potato chips. Known as the Barbacoa Sandwich from Sanguchon SF, this Food Truck features flavorful Peruvian sandwiches. We were not disappointed in the slightest. In fact, we ate them with such gusto that we didn’t even steal a chance for a picture… Oh well, you’ll have to pick a time of day or night to check out Off The Grid and treat yourself to delectable foodie goodies ;)

Bon Appétit, xxoo SC

Bon Voyager

I stumbled upon a wonderfully crafted store yesterday while walking the streets of San Francisco. After a delicious early afternoon in Hayes Valley, my bf and I made our way back to the Mission District– we were both headed for Dolores Park to bask in the warmth and glory of the sun! Before, however, we perused Valencia… the stores there are divine! Each shop has a one-of-a-kind flair that is too stylish for words… Hipster Funk, Stoner Chic, Boho Sophistication that is just the right combination of rebel, edgy and classic. Voyager Shop really stood out. A retail collaboration among SF based Revolver, Spartan and Needles/Pens, this space is carefully curated featuring clothes, accessories, books, art and more! An exceptional variety is offered at Voyager Shop and aside from spectacular fashion and culture finds, the space is a designers dream. I’ve included some pictures of the store so you can get a taste… If you ever find yourself in SF or the Mission, I highly recommend you stop by Voyager Shop, I can only imagine you will LOVE it! xxoo, SC

Jewels

These are the Jewels I am wearing these days… Eclectic and fun, all the while maintaining a general theme. This applies to clothing as well. When I style myself, or anyone else, I like to create a thread, or story, to illustrate what is being worn. I also like to feel held by the power of the images I wear, and so I choose clothes and adornments  that are like a mantra, or daily reminder of what I envision for myself and the world! To surround yourself with positive images, words, and energies is to create a better space for yourself to feel more happy & free.

In this picture a few pieces from my all time favorite designer, Voce Keen, are on display. The Labradorite Pendant is worn for its harmonizing and healing powers while also having properties that help stimulate the imagination and improve memory. Being that I am an Aquarius, I also like that this stone is linked to the Water Bearing Star Sign. Voce Keen Eagle Talon earrings and Crystal FingerWand are also pieces on display that hold meaning and a special symbolism. With Eagle possessing a regal quality and power, I admire this beautiful bird of prey which symbolizes creation, healing, and the illumination of spirit. The Crystal FW is worn for clarity in thought and action.

Additionally, few new jewels by Chibi. I recently discovered this brand at a local boutique and fell in love. The Gold Crescent Moon Pendant and Gold Starburst Midi Ring are beautiful images that remind me daily to appreciate the yin (female) energies of the moon and to never forget that I too was once a bright, sparkling starburst in this expansive universe in which we are all blessed to live!

Fiat Lux SF is a darling little jewelry store on Church Street. They have some in-house specialties, of which I am a proud owner of two delicately made rings! One is their Lover’s Knot in a textured, hammered silver; a midi ring meant to be worn on the upper portion of the finger. My second beautiful bauble is the Hematite Pyramid with a lovely sterling silver setting. The triangle/pyramid shape is reflective of stability and a strong foundation with equanimity in support, while the hematite stone promotes regenerative powers.

Lastly, my Gold Triangle Bead Bracelets are by Free People. I love the chevron shaped beads and find the colorful wristlets add an edgy glamour. The Lapis Lazuli bracelet is adorned with a gorgeous amulet in Coral and Lapis stones that unites the seed bead strands together. This piece was a gift from my Mother and it is a handmade piece of art. Lapis increases our intuition and facilitates a clear understanding of reality. It is also associated with the throat chakra, thus strengthening the neck and vocal chords, elements essential in the practice of lucid communication.

Hope you have fun hunting new accessories for your up and coming stellar outfits! And maybe add a piece or two to the ensamble that has significance to YOU. Let it reflect you and the world you want to inhabit!

Lots of love, Stoner Chíc  x

Christmas Came Early

I want to extend a warm and loving THANK YOU to the Owner of Shoe Biz San Francisco, Mehran Esmaili!! And a hearty Cheers to all his incredible staff!

Mehran recently peeped the blog and loved StonerChíc, especially the posts featuring SUTRO shoes. In 1979 as Engineering students at SFSU, and with $1000 in savings from washing dishes at night, Mehran and his wife Nooshin opened their first Shoe Biz in the legendary Haight District (1420 Haight Street). Since then it has evolved, adding two more locations– 877 Valencia and 3810 24th Street– and each store has its own flair while being uniquely fun, creative, trendy, and 100% personal! Additionally, they have an incredibly remarkable array of k.i.l.l.e.r. shoes that are, as aforementioned trendy, but exquisitely exclusive. I love when I can shop knowing that I’ll have a distinct piece that not many others (if at all) will have… Shoe Biz’ tastes run the gamut from sneakers to pumps, boots to sandals and all things in between… Always with a marvelous selection, you are bound to leave the store with your tootsies happily and beautifully adorned!

Anywhooooo, where I was going with the thank you, it’s juicy… As a by product of seeing the blog, Mehran has sent me some beautiful booties that will be a perfect and welcome addition to my ever expanding shoe collection! Let me tell you, I am eager with the anticipation of wearing these beauties. They are so gorgeous. Both boots are Shoe Biz’ signature private label, SUTRO. Inspired by our stunning city by the bay, San Francisco is the backdrop to where the dashing young Man or Woman can be seen wearing these fine, handcrafted, artisan style leather shoes. Each pair is hand cut and hand stitched to perfection and the shoes are elegant with some styles having a refined and rustic flair. I highly recomment peeping the website: ShoeBizSF.com or visiting any of their 3 San Francisco, CA locations.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my fab new SUTRO’s, xxoo StonerChíc
