Food Truck Heaven

Off The Grid is an innovative Food Truck phenomenon! An organization that hosts various Food Trucks and Food Carts at various venues across the Bay Area, Off The Grid  is unstoppable! My first experience with OTG was 2 years ago when it was just getting started… It began as a weekly trend, meeting at Fort Mason every Friday from 5pm to 10pm. A fun, festive, community oriented gathering, Off The Grid was the perfect first date, girls night out or relaxed family dinner! With so many delicious, delectable treats to choose from it could only grow… Fast forward, and now it is no surprise that the movement has flourished and is becoming a booming entity. Off The Grid has Food Truck frenzy all over the Bay Area, including markets at Fort Mason Center, UN Plaza, North Berkeley, South Berkeley, Hayward, Alameda, Presidio and Larkspur.

I recently met up with my foodie girlfriend Isabel for a yummy lunch at the OTG Larkspur at the Marin Country Mart. A fun, inexpensive dining experience, Food Trucks offer quality food for street food prices. Most trucks are organic and natural, made with fresh, local ingredients. Both Isabel and I went with a tasty pulled pork belly sandwich piled high with coleslaw and potato chips. Known as the Barbacoa Sandwich from Sanguchon SF, this Food Truck features flavorful Peruvian sandwiches. We were not disappointed in the slightest. In fact, we ate them with such gusto that we didn’t even steal a chance for a picture… Oh well, you’ll have to pick a time of day or night to check out Off The Grid and treat yourself to delectable foodie goodies ;)

These are the Jewels I am wearing these days… Eclectic and fun, all the while maintaining a general theme. This applies to clothing as well. When I style myself, or anyone else, I like to create a thread, or story, to illustrate what is being worn. I also like to feel held by the power of the images I wear, and so I choose clothes and adornments  that are like a mantra, or daily reminder of what I envision for myself and the world! To surround yourself with positive images, words, and energies is to create a better space for yourself to feel more happy & free.

In this picture a few pieces from my all time favorite designer, Voce Keen, are on display. The Labradorite Pendant is worn for its harmonizing and healing powers while also having properties that help stimulate the imagination and improve memory. Being that I am an Aquarius, I also like that this stone is linked to the Water Bearing Star Sign. Voce Keen Eagle Talon earrings and Crystal FingerWand are also pieces on display that hold meaning and a special symbolism. With Eagle possessing a regal quality and power, I admire this beautiful bird of prey which symbolizes creation, healing, and the illumination of spirit. The Crystal FW is worn for clarity in thought and action.

Additionally, few new jewels by Chibi. I recently discovered this brand at a local boutique and fell in love. The Gold Crescent Moon Pendant and Gold Starburst Midi Ring are beautiful images that remind me daily to appreciate the yin (female) energies of the moon and to never forget that I too was once a bright, sparkling starburst in this expansive universe in which we are all blessed to live!

Fiat Lux SF is a darling little jewelry store on Church Street. They have some in-house specialties, of which I am a proud owner of two delicately made rings! One is their Lover’s Knot in a textured, hammered silver; a midi ring meant to be worn on the upper portion of the finger. My second beautiful bauble is the Hematite Pyramid with a lovely sterling silver setting. The triangle/pyramid shape is reflective of stability and a strong foundation with equanimity in support, while the hematite stone promotes regenerative powers.

Lastly, my Gold Triangle Bead Bracelets are by Free People. I love the chevron shaped beads and find the colorful wristlets add an edgy glamour. The Lapis Lazuli bracelet is adorned with a gorgeous amulet in Coral and Lapis stones that unites the seed bead strands together. This piece was a gift from my Mother and it is a handmade piece of art. Lapis increases our intuition and facilitates a clear understanding of reality. It is also associated with the throat chakra, thus strengthening the neck and vocal chords, elements essential in the practice of lucid communication.

Hope you have fun hunting new accessories for your up and coming stellar outfits! And maybe add a piece or two to the ensamble that has significance to YOU. Let it reflect you and the world you want to inhabit!

Lots of love, Stoner Chíc  x

Outfit In Action

Not long ago I posted on some Summer/Fall Bootie Cuties… I featured a few outfits that were fun and effortless during this transitional time of the year. Looks that could go easily from day to night by just tossing a sweater and jacket on… Here is a look that I recently wore. By day, I was comfortable, casual and chic in a gorgeous Free People tank top with delicate floral print and a beautiful cut-out back; Joe’s Jeans in a flattering cut that were ankle length, perfect for pairing with Dolce Vita booties in a grey/green suede. Once the temp dropped, I threw on a John Galt by Brandy Melville sweater and a scarf! SummerFall time perfection! xxxooo, SC

Here it is… Accessorized and ready for play! This outfit was cute and chic… I got creative with the jewelry accents and had fun wearing this ensamble, I felt flirty and fun! I also got many compliments on various elements from head to toe!! xx

It’s been almost 12 years since D’angelo released his successful cd Voodoo. And what a fantastic album it was (baby. making. music.)! Now, after a long hiatus, the singer is back and a much-anticipated cd is said to be released in late 2012/early 2013… I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it is as ah-mazing as his past work.

With the growing hype and suspense, D’angelo has released a creative, unique, funky, neo-soul rendition of the 1994 hit by Soundgarden, Black Hole Sun. Although it is far from the original, it is definitely worth a spin! Remixed and with new, original lyrics the D’angelo version of the track adds a stellar edge to this heavy rock song! I love that he has taken his creative energy and channeled it into re-crafting an already great song by making it entirely unique and artistic. I appreciate the use of his talent in making music that is accessible to many while also giving a rock track a crossover capacity in this neo-soul, even electronic , interpretation.

Below is the video. The track may sound a bit scratchy and thus it may be a demo version. I hope you enjoy! I recommend giving it a listen or two… Sometimes new things take a while to absorb, but sit back and open your mind and heart and allow the sweet music to fill the space! Enjoy the link below ;)

Recent Acquisition…

I’ve been a bad, bad girl. I mean naughty!! Walking around the Marin Country Mart the other day, after a yoga class, I stumbled upon Benjamin Eyewear. This is an LA based sunglass designer who creates custom frames emulated and inspired by various fashion icons. Additionally, he cherry picks a few current and vintage frames. In a small store front with kind service, it was a treat to be able to try on any pair I desired… Heaven! Finally, after going back and forth between a few different pairs of shades, I settled for a classic, cat-eyed frame by Chloe.  I’m obsessed with the mauve tinted lenses and the wine colored frames, great for these final Summer days and perfect for accompanying any look well into the Fall. Take a peek by clicking on the image to open up the gallery! Hopefully you’ll love them as much as I do!

On Friday night I went to an AMAZING live show at San Francisco’s historical Fillmore. This venue is magical! So many talented and beloved musicians have performed on the Fillmore stage and the energy of the venue is magnetic and omnipresent !!!

The band I saw was The Head And The Heart.
